Wakefield School Names Next Head

November 2017Wakefield School in The Plains, Virginia, has Named Ashley Harper as its next Head of School, beginning in July, 2018.  Currently serving as director of Advancement at Winchester Thurston School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ms. Harper has been at the school since her 2012 appointment as Director of Lower School. Prior to her time at Winchester Thurston, Ms. Harper served as Middle School Director at the Brookwood School in Thomasville, Georgia, where she also taught algebra and 5th grade. Ms. Harper holds a B.A. in Economics from Florida State University and an M.A. in Teaching and Learning and Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University. She was a National Association of Independent Schools Aspiring School Heads Fellow in 2011-2012.

Founded in 1972 and located since 1996 on a campus 50 miles outside of Washington, D.C., Wakefield is an independent day school serving 301 students this year in junior kindergarten through grade 12.
