Ed Ellison Appointed to Lead Cape Fear Academy

Edward EllisonOctober 2019 — Ed Ellison has been named the next Head of School at Cape Fear Academy beginning July 2020. Ed’s independent school career spans nearly three decades, and most recently, he joined the higher education ranks, serving as the executive director for the office of alumni relations at Tufts University. For the past three years, Ed has served on the university advancement division’s senior management team, responsible for the execution of a $1.5 billion campaign. Prior to his work at Tufts, Ed served for five years as Head of St. Johns Country Day School in Orange Park, FL. Prior to this, Ed spent nine years at The Roxbury Latin School, where he served as director of finance and operations, taught math and economics, was Eighth Grade Class Dean, and sat on the Admission Committee. Ed also served for three years on the faculty of Milton Academy. Before beginning his educational career, Ed was the vice president of operations for Oak Industries, a $300 million publicly-traded manufacturing company. After receiving his BA from Tufts University, Ed joined the Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of Captain. After leaving the Marine Corps, he earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.
