Congressional School Appoints Edwin Gordon Head of School

GordonMarch 2019 — Dr. Edwin Gordon has been named the next Head of Congressional School in Falls Church, Virginia. Dr. Gordon served most recently as the Head of School at Palm Beach Day Academy in Palm Beach, Florida. He also led the Lower School at Riverdale Country School’s River Campus, was Executive Director of the K-12 Education Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, and worked as the Academic Dean (grades 7-10) for the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Gordon earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from Baylor University and his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Cornell University.

Founded in 1939, Congressional School is an independent, coed day school enrolling 343 children from six weeks of age through grade eight. The school also hosts 2,200 students annually through its summer camp programs. Sited on a 40-acre campus in Northern Virginia, the school blends the best of traditional education with innovative teaching and learning practices, including a robust social-emotional learning program and interdisciplinary studies.
