Charlotte Prep Appoints Eddie Mensah as Head of School
March 2017 – The Board of Trustees of Charlotte Preparatory School in Charlotte, North Carolina, has announced the appointment of Eddie Mensah to be permanent Head of School, effective July 1, 2017. The Board voted to offer the position to Mr. Mensah, who is the current Head of Middle School, after conducting an independent assessment of Charlotte Prep’s operations and community led by Wickenden Associates. The engagement included a comprehensive series of discussions and a community survey with Charlotte Prep parents, faculty, and staff regarding the school’s strengths and challenges, as well as an exploration of the leadership qualities the school community valued most in its next Head of School.
Mr. Mensah is in his fourth year as Head of Middle School at Charlotte Prep. Earlier in his career, he served for 13 years as the Director of Programs for Steppingstone Scholars Inc., an educational nonprofit for under-served students in Philadelphia. Born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, Mr. Mensah holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Franklin and Marshall College and an M.S.Ed in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
Founded in 1971, Charlotte Prep is an independent day school of approximately 400 students, PreK-grade 8.
